I was 5 when I had mine out. I hate chocolate pudding to this day. Was told ice cream and only served choco pudding at the hospital. LOL I had to stay extra days because I refused to eat anything, but all in all. I'm glad my parents made the discision to have them out. I remember before the surgery I always was sick alot with a sore throat, but after recovery I hardly ever had a sore throat and felt much better over all. I rarily have a sore throat now in comparrison to ppl that I know that still have their tonsils. Oh a slight draw back is that you can still get tonsillitus in the spot the tonsils were but its much less dangerous and rare.

Glad mine are gone.

TandA worked out great for my 6 year-old. She's about to turn 9 and hasn't had a single ear infection since the surgery.

If it were me and we were still having problems this late in the game, I'd go looking for another doc to take a look at her.

Yes we have seen the Doc last week. He is unsure why the behavioral changes are there. They believe that it maybe the steriods she took. I'm not sure I believe that. It's been more than 2 weeks since she had them and the problem still exist. Her neck is still VERY sore and she cries daily about it. I was lead to believe that this was a very simple procedure with no after effects. It's been a little more than that for me. We are 3weeks post op tomorrow and I am praying that it is all good from here on out.

Kristy,

I'm sorry your little one's not doing well. Have you had a chance to take her back to the doc for a complete post op check? Maybe she's still hurting or something that can be straightened out so she can get back to her old self?

Best of luck to you both!

Our oldest had the TandA when she was 8yo. She tolerated the post-op OK, but the pre-op meds took her on quite a trip -- she kept asking why the Disney character in the picture kept moving!! We have a good laugh everytime we think about it.

Well my five year old is 2weeks post op tomorrow. The child we took to surgery is not the child we received back. My sweet baby is now very MEAN and in trouble everyday at school. Her teacher called today very worried about her behavor changes. Am I the only one?
