We installed a $30.00 door handle with a lock and key, my boys now have to ask us for the key and they have 15 min to get in, shower and give the key back. If the key is not returned in the 15 min they are allowed then they forfeit their shower time for the following day. We have a downstairs bathroom with a sink and toilet. They keep a bag with thier toiletries in it and use that bathroom in the mornings to brush thier teeth. We also installed a lock on our masterbedroom so they don't have access to that shower either when we are not home. This has been very effective for us. They ingnore all the timers and the yelling from us to get out. My boys are home alone while my husband and I work so shower time always seems to be whenever they feel like it. When the parents aren't home the timer dosen't work!!
