My wife likes to yell, and I'm always telling her to control herself, which pisses her off even more. But I keep telling her: "If you yell with the kids, you're teaching them that it's ok for them to yell at others, and even yell back at you" I think the most important thing is to keep your head under control. And you are right, behavior (good or bad) is typically a reflection of my mood, and it leads to a vicious cycle that feeds on itself: as I get more and more fed up, their behavior deteriorates even further, and so on.
