Free Summer Movies for Kids
If summer vacation hasn’t arrived yet in your neck of the woods, then it’s just around the corner. With that in mind, I thought I’d pull together a list of free (or at least really cheap) movie theater promotions for kids this summer. In case you’re not aware, theaters often have special summer promos where they show G or PG films on weekday mornings for free, or nearly so.
While we’re very happy with our Blockbuster Total Access subscription (click to read our first impressions), nothing beats an occasional trip to an actual movie theater. What follows is my best attempt at compiling a list of these offers.
If your favorite theater isn’t listed, you might want to call them and ask if they offer anything like this. I tried to catch most of the major chains, but I’m sure I missed some - if so, feel free to let me know and I’ll update it. Also, some chains might not have posted details of their promotions yet, as it’s still a bit early. With that said, here we go…
» Clearview Cinemas
Eight weeks of family films. Free admission, every Thursday @ 10:30AM starting July 5th.
» AMC Summer Movie Camp
Free movies on Wednesdays at 10AM from June 27th - August 15th (in most markets). Offer not good on Wednesday, July 4th.
» Crown Cinemas Free Summer Kids Film Festival
Deatils have yet to be posted, but last year it was free movies at 10AM on Thursdays, late June through mid-August. But they’re definitely doing it again this year, as they have a banner graphic promoting it.
» Regal Cinemas Free Family Film Festival
Select G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. Admission is free. You can check the movies as well as a list of locations, dates, and times by visiting this page over at the Regal website (thanks Marsha!).
» United Artists
Participating in Regal Cinemas Free Family Film Festival (see above).
» Edward Cinemas
Participating in Regal Cinemas Free Family Film Festival (see above).
» Classic Cinemas Wednesday Morning Movie Series
G and PG rated movies for just $1 on Wednesday mornings for eight weeks from June 13th - August 8th (not including July 4th).
» Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse
Ten weeks of kids movies on weekday mornings. All ten movies can be purchases in advance for $5 (total) or you can purchase tickets for each show at the box office for $1/each. Runs for 10 weeks, dates have yet to be announced.
» Dickinson Theaters Summer Vacation Movie Series
Ten weeks of summer vacation movies starting June 5th. Buy a season ticket for all ten shows for $9.00 - it’s unclear if you can pay per show, but I would imagine that’s an option.

Unfortunately, I do not have any of those theaters near me
But your post prompted me to call around to the companies near me to see if they have any specials. We have only taken our son to the theater once because normally it costs so much.
