Just Daddy and (Two of) the Boys

Written by dad - Leave a Comment

As of this yesterday, I’m playing Mr. Mom for about a week while my lovely and talented wife visits family with our two youngest. So it’s up with the boys in the morning, get them on the school bus by 7:20 AM, then head off to work myself. Since the bus drops them off back at home around 2:30 PM, it’s a mad-dash to get things done before I have to (get to) head back home. My goals for the week are to…

(1) Keep the boys well fed, caught up on their homework, on schedule, and (fairly) clean. Speaking of which, when I told our six year old to take a shower before bed last night, his response was: “Oh come on, Dad… I can just take one the night before Mom gets home.” That’s my boy! I’m so proud.

(2) Keep the house picked up and (fairly) clean. This is actually pretty easy to do since the two that I got to keep are capable of picking up after themselves. As it turns out, the biggest issue is picking up after myself.

(3) Enlist the boys to help get some jobs done around the yard. We’ve already taken one load of brush/trees to the landfill (we’re working on clearing out our forest) and we have more ready to go.

(4) Have fun and enjoy a bit of extra time around the house with the kids.

Oh, and we have four soccer games and two soccer parties over the next three days.

No rest for the weary.
