Kid Hack: Diet Sprite – It’s Colorless and Completely Non-Sticky!

Written by dad - Leave a Comment

While we tend to drink a lot of water and milk in our household, we’re also not averse to the occasional soft drink. For the kids, this is a huge deal… They don’t get soft drinks very often, so it’s quite the treat when Mom and Dad relent. While we’re not crazy about letting them suck down sugar water, we don’t do it all that often, so that’s not a huge concern. The bigger issue for us is the mess that results when one of them inevitably spills.

There’s nothing nastier than sticky carpet, and a sugar-soaked carpet is also pretty darn attractive to ants. And we’re also not crazy about the “stain potential” if they spill something like Coke or root beer. Our solution? Simple. Diet Sprite Zero. (Or the generic equivalent.) It colorless and completely non-sticky! Thus, a Diet Sprint mishap isn’t all that different from a water spill. And as an added benefit, the kids won’t end up packing on the pounds from drinking what is effectively liquid candy.

Yes, there are artificial sweeteners in diet soft drinks, but we’ve never been too uptight about things like that, especially when they’re used in moderation. So if you have messy kids (is there any other kind?), and you don’t want to resort to things like treats in the tub, then Diet Sprite Zero is definitely worth a shot.
