Disney Raises Ticket Prices (Again)
The cost of rubbing elbows with Minnie, Mickey, and the gang just went up — for the second time this year! That’s right, a basic single day ticket to Disney Land or Disney World climbed 6.3%, from $63 to $67 (before taxes). This comes on the heels of a 5.4% increase (from $59.75 to $63) on January 1, 2006. Taken together, this represents a 12.1% price increase in just over seven months, and 22% since 2004.
And what are they offering in return for this price hike? Ummmm… Not really anything as far as I can tell. The only real news that accompanied the most recent price hike was that Disney will now allow guests to reschedule their Disney World vacations and apply their deposits to future trips if the National Weather Service announces a hurricane warning for Orlando or the guest’s hometown in the seven days preceding their scheduled arrival. Universal Studios and Sea World already offered such a policy. In short, this seems like a classic case of Disney raising prices simply because they can.
