The Big Move Approaches

Written by mom - Leave a Comment

Our “Big Move” is drawing near, and each day we say goodbye to someone who has meant something to us over the past four years. It’s been an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. I know the move is a positive one for our family, but I feel so sad about leaving my home and friends of the past four years. I’m excited about what this move means to our family down the road. Unfortunately, reaching our destination feels overwhelming right now.

I’ve moved around enough to know that some tough times are ahead. I’ll probably be lonely and lost for a while. Even with my wonderful husband and sons, I’ll be without my circle of friends, a precious commodity for a stay at home mom. My husband will mostly focus on work and home, a ready made life, so to speak. It will be a challenge to create a life for my sons and me, no doubt.

Am I up to it? I certainly hope so. It’s entirely possible that the challenge of moving with the four boys will eclipse my feelings of loss, fear, self doubt, and loneliness. It’s virtually impossible to dwell on anything around here anyway. Having a moment to myself? Ha! That’s a laugh. Instead of mourning my loss here, I’ll celebrate what I have to look forward to. As I say goodbye to each unique and precious person here, I’ll leave space in my life for a different and equally special person at my new home. It’s such a bittersweet time… more sweet than bitter, but challenging nonetheless.
